The 2014 Cyber Punk Game Jam ends tonight, and I helped out my friend jeremyku w/ some of the art direction on his submission: Skiptrace. Aside from the smattering of smaller here-and-there stuff I did, I got to design the main character and level design. Super fun!

Super early gameplay video of PolyKnights prototype. Basically the sword people are just trying to protect the torch person. This is all super rough of course, but i figure i would share.

28 Warlords by paul reinwand

My 28 Warlords project just wrapped up, and I’m pretty darned proud of em! I put together a giant bounty board of 1 thru 28, and threw some of my favorites to go along with.

They can all be seen full size by searching the warlord or 28 warlords tag, or on my behance gallery.

Help me get the word out everyone, and thanks for all of the kind words and support this past month!

My best bud and roomie just wrapped up his daily draw, and he totally killed it. I definitely recommend you all check out his stuff!

If you’re looking for an alternative to the big two I would have to say check out Blender. It’s free/open source, and there’s loads of learning materials out there for it as well. Though it has a different way of doing things than either of the Autodesk programs so it may be hard to transition later on.
As for jams, it’s something that’s pretty new to me as well. I’ve been following some of the bigger ones for a while but only recently started participating. A good place to start would be the TIGSource forums, there’s a lot of indie game folks that are congregating on there, big and small. Also you can just start following indie devs you like on twitter and you’ll usually hear about whats goin’ on.
